Hello,
Would just like to do a quick share of something we're working on for some feedback. We expect this to be released in about 2-3 weeks time along with several other improvements and fixes. We'll provide release notes as usual in #announcements when that happens.
Summary of issues with timed team challenges:
- Some timed teams often have teammates that fall off, and it can be quite frustrating.
- Understandably some people drop off for IRL issues and that's okay
- From our end we want to implement a system that helps to better match people who have the same schedule consistency, so would love to hear some feedback/suggestions on what else you may want to see improved.
Gentle reminder to avoid name calling, shaming, or unnecessary arguments. Team challenges are just an added bit of fun to go on top of your programs and not something we should take too seriously.
Changes:
🔵 We will introduce a button on the teams page where you can rate your teammates.
🔵 You can rate your teammate during a team challenge only after it started.
🔵 You will be able to go to your team history to rate your old teammates if you have not before, but you won't be able to update a rating if you have already given one.
🔵 Ratings are shown when a user applies to a team, so an admin can have a better understanding if someone is a good fit with the rest of their teammates
🔵 When someone drops off cause of any IRL event, we think they still have the opportunity to let their teammates know either before hand or after they return, just out of courtesy.
🔵 We updated messaging to make sure users are aware that timed teams have ratings now and they can choose to do a casual team if it suits them better.
🔵 We wont be displaying ratings on profiles and such to not make people focus on it too much outside of a team.
We think a rating just helps motivate people to be respectful among their teammates, and we get it that sometimes some people don't end up gelling well and arguments can occur, but a low rating doesn't mean you're not going to find a team eventually, and we will find other means to re-adjust the ratings back up over time when certain conditions are met.
Ratings are primarily for the team admin, who's responsible for accepting someone, and we're providing more information such as the user's rating, as well as their past failed/successfully completed timed challenges.
If you find timed teams a little intimidating, you can always give casual teams a go first to get familiar. It's literally the same thing without deadlines, goals, and ratings.
Let us know what frustrations you encounter in team challenges and whether you think this helps a little, and any other feedback you may have!
