Programs
I did it y'all. I completed the 2018 8 Week Shred!!! Idk what possessed me to attempt this 8 week challenge because I literally have only ever completed one of the 2 week challenges but I guess I mustered up the courage from somewhere cuz I went for it! lol
For reference, I started the program on 9/1 at 5'5 and 157 lbs. I ate my usual ovo-lacto vegetarian diet (milk and eggs ok, no meat or seafood) and aimed for 225,000 steps/month. which is equivalent to about 7.5k of daily steps. If I missed my daily walking count, I just made up for it later (sometimes several days later lol). Anyways, I finally ended the challenge today weighing in at 141.4-down 15.6 lbs!!! My ultimate goal is 135-6.4 lbs to go!!!
Thoughts:
-Was VERY consistent for the first month but started getting lazy and skipping days, delayed my completion by a good two weeks boo
-Started to actually look forward to arm days (???-this has never happened to me in my life, I've always hated upper body workouts hahah)
-Heavy on the full body workouts
-Noticeable progress in a lot of exercises: up and down blanks, burpees, plank to half squat
-Miniscule progress in some others: bird dog plank
-Hoping and praying that I'll never have to listen to Fool'd Gold again iykyk ;)
Advice:
-PLEASE TAKE A GOOD BEFORE PIC. I took one but the lighting is horrible and I covered up so much that you can't even tell the difference. I'm definitely going to browse through the before and after pics and take inspo from everyone's angles and lighting. Next time, I will wear something that shows off my stomach and legs so I can actually see the progress lol.
-Accountability buddies are soooo helpful(this was my first one I completed by myself and it was great but I can't wait to join a team next hehe)
-Don't forget to wash your yoga mat regularly
-Focus on QUALITY not quantity (aka doing a pushup correctly rather than doing 10 wrong ones)
-Stretching/warm ups/cool downs are KEY
-I used two water bottles for weights when required
Thanks Chloe Ting! Overall a really great program!
Next I'm planning on taking on the 2019 Lean Legs Challenge since I'm going in order and according to the CT app, my legs & booty have been the areas that I've been neglecting the most.
If you're still here, thanks for reading!!
Has anyone else completed the 2018 8 Week Shred program recently? Thoughts?
