Advice on weight gain while exercising.

I actually want to gain weight, but I fear the opposite might happen if I started exercising. Is it true that i might lose weight? And if not, which program (as a beginner) should I follow? . I'm interested in both gaining muscles and fat (I weigh 49. 5 kg and I have fast metabolism, so i think gaining fat would help giving my body a bit of shape).
