Fitness Discussion

Has anyone else experienced bruising and  'carpet' burns on their arms during the workouts, I feel it might be because the mat could be too thin but I currently can't afford to get a thicker one (the one I got I got for free).  If anyone else has experienced this I'd greatly appreciate some help! !  It doesn't bother me that much but I think as time goes on it will and I just want to be proactive 
(I'll include pictures but I'm not sure if you can see them that much)
