Hourglass & Booty Programs - At a Glance

I really enjoy looking at the differences between programs and I've done breakdowns for a few different series, so I've started sharing them in case any of you would enjoy discussing them and adding your own perspectives ♡

 Some caveats:
• can't guarantee my data entry is perfect
• does not account for warm-up/cooldown (I often encourage people to pick the ones they like best/have time for rather than the scheduled ones)
• the minutes are rounded
• /day is minutes/day
• videos with mixed focus are split between the categories
• this does not account in any way for actual intensity of the videos themselves, it's purely looking at time in minutes

 My thoughts:
• the programs designed for bodyweight are often using volume (more working time) to try to compensate for lack of resistance

• different body shapes may need different strategies to build an hourglass, so it's helpful that the programs have different breakdowns. We just need a resistance-based upper-body program to really cover all options!

• 2019 Hourglass: primarily booty and core, good if you don't need/want to grow your upper body to create the hourglass shape. Videos pretty repetitive.

• 2020 Hourglass: very similar to 2019 with a bit less training volume.

• 2021 Hourglass: an absolute vibe and one of my favorite programs ever! Has upper body, which sets it apart from 2019-20. I think it has a couple of videos designed for dumbbells, but is mostly bodyweight/resistance bands.

• 2023 Hourglass: what I would consider to be the most balanced/full-body of these programs. I consider that all of the weighted programs have the potential to be "the most challenging" because that will depend on your choice of weights, but 2023 would be my personal pick for those looking to really challenge themselves.

• 2024 Hourglass: a bit less time committment than 2023 and with the least dedicated core minutes. More focus on lower body compared to 2023.

• 5 Week Booty: I feel like it has slightly better video variety than some of the other early programs. It has very long stretches of workout days without rest, but 4 days have only a single 10-15 min video. Could consider taking more rest days. Probably best understood as the 5 Week Booty & Core 😄

• Get Peachy: along with Grow a Booty, unique because it has a lot of focus on reps instead of timed intervals. Can be a great introduction to progressive overload! It does have 6 workout days/1 rest, but follows a steady pattern alternating upper/core and lower to hopefully avoid overworking muscle groups. If you have weights that are genuinely very challenging to you, taking more rest is probably an important consideration.

• Grow a Booty: Similar to Get Peachy, but with an even stronger focus on lower body v. upper body. A good pick if you really don't need/want to grow your upper body much to create the hourglass look. Mostly has the 5/2 workout/rest pattern Chloe has largely shifted to recently.

Have you done any of these programs? What did you think of them? Please feel free to share your impressions/experiences, I love to hear them!
