How do i do side plank more properly?

Hey everyone!
Today was my Day 2 of Summer shred challenge. The first video - i was able to do all steps but in the 2nd upper body part video i can only do 2 -3 time the side plank in which we have to change side.
Also My whole hips and thigh area are paining. . . is it normal how do i get relief?
