I am “skinny fat” as I don’t have much muscle after stopping consistent sports. So my goal in 2025 is to get more lean and toned, and turn the fat into muscle. Body recomposition is something I’ve researched into and think would be effective.
Is it really as simple (not saying easy!) as more strength training (alongside existing cardio) and eating more protein in a calorie maintenance? Has anyone done it before and can share their tips?
Some facts about me if relevant
- Late teens
- Healthy BMI, but feel skinny fat
- Trained for competitive sports but stopped two years ago
- Diet is mostly home-cooked whole foods, a lot of pastas rice and vegetables
Really keen to get my body back in shape! I’ve never structured my own workout regime before, so all help is appreciated, thanks :)

I am not the most knowledgeable about this but from what I understand you need to focus on eating at maintenance calories with plenty of protein to support muscle growth while losing fat. You also need to do strength training with progressive overload, and the occasional light cardio if wanted/needed. And Lots of Patience! 💕
