You hands should me placed directly under your shoulders and your hands should be placed vertically with palms parallel to the body. When you go down your elbows must not peak too much to the sides. There's TONS of videos out here where you can check proper form. I recommend you use a mirror to check your own form and be also aware this tends to be a difficult exercise for most people at the beginning. If you can't do a push up you may try on you knees or even on a wall if that's too hard. If you can go down all the way that's perfectly okay too!! ❤️💪

Start with a regular straight arm plank while keeping your body straight, don’t push your butt out. Your hands should be direct in line with your shoulders. (A wider hand stance targets the chest, while a narrow hand stance targets the triceps). When you lower your body, your elbows should never be too splayed out as this puts stress on your shoulders, try to keep them at a 45 degree angle from your body. This is the basic form, there are other variations that target specific muscles but this is the starter. You can watch some YouTube videos for examples to follow. Most women who are beginners will do knee pushups where their knees touch the ground, as this is an easier variation of regular pushups. Also make sure you are flexing your whole body.
