I finally finished the 2023 Hourglass Challenge today! Overall, I liked it, but there were definitely some tough moments. The workouts were often really long and involved a ton of squats and lunges. I have to admit, I developed a serious dislike for side lunges—they're so uncomfortable, and I'm never sure I have the form right.
On the plus side, I absolutely loved the booty and legs workouts! I can definitely see and feel a difference, and the muscle soreness the next day is a good sign that they're working.
However, today's 11-minute 'Tight Core Plank Challenge' workout absolutely destroyed me! There are only a few planks in that whole routine I can hold for the full duration, and 11 minutes of planks back-to-back is brutal. Is anyone else having this much trouble with it?
Honestly, I don't think this particular video should have been included in the program. There wasn't enough focus on core work throughout the month to prepare for such an intense plank challenge. I feel like planks should be incorporated more gradually, building up our strength over time until we can handle a full workout of them. (edited by moderator)
