I finished the 2019 Lean Thigh Challenge! it was my first "long" challenge (30 days), and I took 40 days to complete it due to taking additional rest days (thanks to a helpful suggestion by stellaria!), which kept me consistent instead of burning out!
What I enjoyed:
I had never worked my inner or outer thigh muscles before, so the first week of exercises was learning proper form and making the mind/muscle connection. I found that it was really easy to do all the standing movements incorrectly if you're not focusing on using your inner thigh muscles as well as your core for balance. I found the floor exercises easier to understand since they isolated and targeted the inner & outer thigh muscles. Basically, I think if you're finding the exercises "too easy", first check if your form is correct.
The hardest part:
The time commitment. I did all the workout videos including the optional ab/plank challenge ones, which often meant 4 to 5 videos a session. Each session could take up to 90 minutes because I took a lot of breaks while doing the planks. If you skip the optional videos, it's definitely much shorter!
What I changed:
The cooldown video made me feel like a newborn giraffe stumbling around (I'm really not good at yoga poses), so I often swapped it for the 2019 or 2021 one depending on time to really stretch the hamstrings.
My results:
I have a lot of cellulite around my upper thighs (that's where my body likes to store the most fat), and this challenge started toning that area. No one told me that losing cellulite looks exactly like gaining cellulite but in reverse! I can see "dents" in my thighs where I lost a patch of fat here and there. I also didn't notice my results until I was done my period and the bloating went away. Both thighs and my stomach area have slimmed down, and I feel stronger in my core, and more balanced on both legs. When I started the challenge, I immediately noticed my right leg was significantly weaker than my left leg - and now it feels more equal!
TL;DR: It's an effective challenge - if you work the intended muscles! I'd love to hear other people's thoughts and experiences on it as well!
