Motivation
In yesterday's workout i had the tight core plank challenge. I've read the horror stories, this was going to be hard and I may not survive, but i was ready to try my hardest! I previewed the video, showed my roommates some of the exercises that I was certain I wouldn't be able to do and set off on my way to do my workouts. Of course before the 11 minutes of planks was upper body and arms so I was going to be good and spent by the time I got to my planks. I have this video 3 times in my challenge so I decided to record my first and last attempt to compare them.
I was excited that it started with spider plank swipes, I can do those! Here we go! I managed the full time for them, scorpion planks and inchworm planks. several moves I did for 3/4 of the time and the rest less than half time but that was OK. I did low impact ski abs because I'm still being gentle with jumping. Amazingly i was capable of lateral plank walks, which surprised me! Rotation and dip was crazy hard, i did it twice on each side only. I did my hip dips and mountain climbers really well. I managed some plank hops, rested and tried again. Then... then... side plank bicycle! Holy cow, I wrote this one off as a no way. Well side one was trying to figure out my body... but side 2 - i did it! I did the damn thing and i did it a lot! Almost full time!!! Holy cow! My uncoordination really stated to shine with the arm & leg extension plank, but i managed somehow to do those too!!I did every move except the up down Jack's because the tendinitis in my elbow is a bit flared up right now so I did plank Jack's with no up and down arms.
What I thought i couldn't do though....I did! I did those moves, even if not for the whole time, I still did them and I'm so proud and I feel so freaking strong!
I'm in a big body, I have a decent amount of weight to throw around, I have injuries that I work around and arthritis that I refuse to let be chronic and destroy me. I took this one on ready to be defeated and instead I conquered! I can't wait to try it again on my last day of this challenge!
Anyway, I hope you're encouraged! I know i was when I overcame my defeated mindset and just took this one by the horns and went for it! I'm so much stronger than I thought i was! I hope you have awesome workouts today, you can do this!! 💪💪💪
