Motivation
Hey guys! This is my first post here, so I'm a bit nervous, but I really want to share this in case this might help someone else.
Years ago, when I was still in high school, I discovered Chloe Ting on Youtube and tried following her workouts. This sadly didn't work out because I would always give up a few days into a challenge. The workouts were too hard for me and 15 yo me was very surprised I didn't magically get a flat stomach after 2 weeks of doing a 15 minute workout lol :) I would always skip months before trying again, giving up again, waiting months, trying again and giving up again and again and again. I felt so bad because why couldn't I just lock and and keep being consistent?
Then Chloe's app came out. I installed it, but never started a challenge. I kept adding schedules to my queue but they stayed there, gathering dust. This went on for quite a while before I decided I was absolutely done with making excuses for myself.
What changed?
✨️ Instead of telling myself I don't have time to work out, I make time to work out
✨️ I shifted my focus from "I want to have a flat stomach" to "I want to move more". As a student, I sit a lot because of classes and homework and I just want to be healthier
✨️ Instead of relying on motivation, I decided to just show up for myself, regardless of my mood. You've heard it before: if you only have 20% of energy and you give 20%, you gave it your all! Just try your best and don't be to hard on yourself!
This change in attitude caused me to lock in. I have one week and a half left of my first schedule and I am so proud of myself! I am also genuinely having fun with it. If I have a busy day, I look at gaps in between activities so I can squeeze my workout time in. My weight is dropping slowly, but I feel better than I ever have. My jeans are less tight. My mood is better, my energy levels are higher. I enjoy my food more. The cool down routine started feeling like self care, easing me into relaxation to continue my day/evening. I am getting better at exercises that felt impossible to do at first, which gives me a confidence boost... Most importantly: I am loving myself more, not because I am becoming a thinner version of myself, but because I started caring about my health.
Let this be your sign to lock in as well. You got this, I believe in you❤️
With love,
Jolien
