Beginnings
Hey everyone! I’ve come back to CORE after a bit of time away because I have reached the point with my body image & the way I feel that makes me want to get better. My biggest struggle with working out and consistency has been finding the motivation to actually work out. Motivation is a lot harder for me to find because of my ADHD - my brain really needs the novelty and dopamine rush to enjoy & find the desire to work out. After reading and watching countless adhd motivation/workout resources I’ve come to the conclusion that I desire accountability & companionship and I need smaller goals. For my smaller goals I just want to show up a little bit each day I have a work out - aka doing as much as I feel up to but at least doing SOMETHING. I started the 2025 Summer shred challenge and although I took a lot of extra breaks & only did half of the ab workout, I at least finished the first work out. I am trying to join a timed team to get that accountability & companionship so hopefully that will help. If anyone has any tips I would love to hear from yall❤️
For my journey I have 121 days until I depart on a 5 month backpacking trip across Australia & south east Asia with my girlfriend. I know I want to start working out more to get my endurance up because this trip is going to be a LOT of walking & hiking & carrying heavy backpacks. But I also want to be able to look back at all of the photos of me on the beach without my first thought being “I wish I looked better in this photo”. I know that working out isn’t going to solve every body image issue I have, but I’m hoping that the consistency of working out & finding moments where I’m proud of what my body can accomplish can help. For now though I am 1 day down with 120 to go. I’ll post an update on my progress at the end of June in the before & after thread if anyone wants to follow along! Thanks!
