Starting out as quite unfit and struggling with exercises

Hello everyone! As the title says, I've started out on a fitness journey (again).

I'm happy about it, but what really brings my mood to the ground is that last year I used to play competitive ice hockey and I was 10kgs/22 pounds lighter (still 5 kgs/11 pounds overweight, but I could freely move and do exercise). Two summers ago (2024), I did Chloe Ting's workout with relative ease: still ended them tired, but I could do them all, every video, and do them everyday.

Starting again now in early 2026, 10 kgs/22 pounds heavier and having lost almost all my muscle mass after quitting sports and increased overeating because of depression, I can barely do a single workout video every 2-3 days. Day 1 left me sore for about 4 days, and it kind of made me feel ashamed of myself. I don't know how I could let my body get this out of shape, especially when I'm so young (will be 20 this year).

Don't get me wrong, I'm proud of myself for wanting to improve my life and get ahold of my body before it can get any worse. At a current weight of 71 kgs/156,5 pounds and a height of 157cm/5'2", I am almost obese, at 19 years old. This is crazy to me. I have always been overweight since before puberty, and I really want to see what my body looks like underneath the extra tissue. I just would really love to know how the (temporarily) unfit ladies like me are handling the early stages of working out. I know there are lower impact versions in some videos, but I'm still super out of breath and extremely tired.

I wanna thank you for reading my post and tell you that I'm so proud of you for where you are right now and where you're going, and that you should always remember to be proud of yourself as well. Keep it up! Get those gains!
