I have lost 42lbs in about three years, although last year my weight fluctuated a lot. I started with unsustainable diets (recommended by a nutritionist who cost $200 for 8 weeks??) where I was instructed to cut out all meat, dairy, eggs, processed sugar, naturals sugars, etc. and basically eat bowls of veggies for breakfast, lunch, and dinner. I had an idea abt nutrition because I am a biology major, but I was 265lbs, so I decided to trust the professional. It WORKED for a little while, but the diet was unsustainable for the long-term and generally decreased my happiness 😆I lost 40lbs that first year in 2023, but by the end of 2024 I was back to 241lbs and climbing. I felt so discouraged! In 2025, I decided to make my own plan where I tried out a new weight-loss method for a WHOLE month regardless of whether it seemed to be working or not so I could see what worked for me. My goal was to be consistent and hopefully find methods that worked for MY body. I started in January with just 20 squats every day because I was VERY out of shape and sedentary. Now I am down 20lbs and have am arsenal of weight loss methods that I know work for me if I stay consistent with them. I cut back on fast food (but still eat it every once in a while), I am counting calories, I go for loooong walks (I used to feel like fainting after 10 minutes), and I found that I LOVE making little challenges for myself and seeing how far I have come. Committing to something and proving to myself that I can do the hard thing has been the greatest feeling ever. Even when the scale is being stubborn, I look at how far I’ve come and am proud of myself. For the first time ever I am hopeful of my future and can see myself losing all the weight if I just keep at it. No more fad diets and “cleanses” leaving me feeling weak all the time. I want to feel strong, and I am figuring out what works best for my schedule, my body, my life.
Do y’all think this nutritionist was legit? Have you ever heard of another nutritionist recommending this diet?
