Today is my 24th birthday and in past years where I was trying to lose weight, I would either restrict and be unhappy or go crazy on my birthday then fall off completely the next day to never continue with my progress. This time it’s different, and I was more mindful and trusted my hunger and satiety cues to do their job. Did I indulge? I sure did, and it’s not the end of the world. Birthdays come once a year, there is no harm in a day of celebration. I am allowed to enjoy my time on my birthday with my loved ones, cake and all. I am relearning this and rewriting my brain to not think in the all or nothing.
